Last Batch of Rails Sails to Indonesia for Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway

Published:2021-08-31

On August 20, the last batch of rails for Jakarta-Bandung HSR was shipped from Fangchenggang, Guangxi to Indonesia. Previously, the 5,500 tons of rails were transported from Panzhihua, Sichuan to Fangchenggang, Guangxi via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

It is reported that Jakarta-Bandung HSR represents the landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative and the pragmatic cooperation between China and Indonesia. All rails used for Jakarta-Bandung HSR are manufactured by Pangang Group, transported to Fangchenggang by railway, and then shipped to Indonesia by sea for the construction of the HSR.

As an important port in southwest China, Fangchenggang serves as the base for the transfer of essential materials such as ore, building supplies and coal. The iron ore required by Pangang Group for the production of rails is purchased from South Africa and other countries. The raw materials are transported first by sea to Fangchenggang, and then by rail to Sichuan. The HSR rail produced by Pangang Group is exported to the United States, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and other countries via Fangchenggang through rail-sea intermodal transport.
