National Railways See Peak Student Traffic as E-pass Plays a Key Role

Published:2020-09-08

The 62-day summer passenger rush in 2020 has come to an end, yet the ridership of students remains high. At present, 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have made clear arrangements to start the autumn semester. The railway sector has done a good job in selling student tickets, given full play to the advantages of e-pass, and thus guaranteed passengers' safe and convenient travel.
During the summer passenger rush, the national railways registered a total of 6.091 million student trips. The peak of student traffic flow will last until the first ten days of September as colleges and universities have arranged their students to return to school in batches to avoid peak traffic. With main destinations covering Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an, Changsha, etc., the traffic flow of students returning to school coincides with that of the returning tourists and family visitors, resulting in a large-scale and long-lasting traffic peak as a whole.
