Yinchuan-Xi’an HSR is 618 kilometers long, of which the Gansu-Ningxia section is 425 kilometers long, with a design speed of 250 km/h, and the conditions are reserved for speed boosting to 350km/h on ballasted track. The construction of the Yinchuan-Xi’an HSR was launched at the end of 2015 and the Yinchuan-Wuzhong section was put into operation on December 29, 2019.

　　Yinchuan-Xi’an HSR constitutes an important part of Baotou-Haikou Railway, a major corridor in the “eight north-south lines and eight east-west lines” of high speed rails pictured in the national Mid-Term and Long-term Railway Network Development Program. It passes through the edge of Mu Us Desert and a large stretch of Dongzhi loess tableland. Along the way, there are many national 5A tourist attractions and revolutionary tradition education bases, all together making it a golden line for tourism, revolutionary tradition education, and boosting happiness and prosperity of people living along it.
