Tacheng Prefecture has a vast area with abundant resources such as water, soil, optothermal, oil and gas, minerals, agriculture and tourism, and has great development potential. The total annual output of agricultural and sideline products in Tacheng Prefecture is about 2 million tons, mainly supplied to Sichuan, Yunnan and other places.

The railway freight yard in Tacheng Station covers an area of 85,000 square meters and has two freight tracks, which can meet the demand of loading and unloading wagons in an entire train. The freight yard is 6 kilometers away from downtown Tacheng and 18 kilometers away from Bakhty Port, featuring with convenient transportation. After connecting with highway transportation, it can effectively reduce the logistics cost.

In order to unclog the logistics transportation corridor in Tacheng Prefecture as soon as possible, the Kuitun Freight Center of China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. has dispatched personnel to enter the freight yard in advance, to carry out equipment system commissioning, business training and other work, and to actively prepare for the launching of freight services.

Tacheng Station's launching of freight services has effectively brought into play the transportation advantages of Karamay-Tacheng Railway. The opening of the railway freight yard at Tacheng Station will provide high-quality and convenient freight services for high-quality agricultural and sideline products in Tacheng and its surrounding areas. In the future, focusing on the characteristics of main freight sources such as the grains, China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. will optimize the functions of the freight yard, and develop the highway-railway intermodal transport with railway transportation as the main approach and highway short-distance barge transportation as supplement to promote the regional economic development in Xinjiang.
