In terms of passenger transport, railway passenger flow volume has remained high since the summer passenger transport started on July 1. The total passenger volume of national railways reached 348 million in July, up 9.7% year on year. The daily average passenger volume was 11.24 million, creating a record for national railways in terms of average daily passenger volume in a single month. In each of the 31 days in July the daily average passenger volume was more than 10 million. The peak passenger flow at weekends exceeded 12 million, and peaked at 12.49 million, thus creating a new high in the passenger volume in a day during the summer passenger transport. 

In terms of freight transport, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. has further consolidated and pushed forward measures for increasing freight volume in the second quarter of this year, enhancing freight transport capacity, optimizing transportation organization, improving supporting facilities, reducing logistics costs, and promoting the sustained growth of railway freight volume. In July, the total railway freight volume amounted up to 292 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 9.2%. The growth momentum spread across major categories and sectors. The monthly coal transport volume of China Railway had a year-on-year growth of 5.5%, including that of Tangshan-Hohhot Railway and Watang-Rizhao Railway up about 10% year on year. The freight volume of metal ores, steel and containers has increased by 8%, 11.9% and 32.2% respectively. 

In the first seven months of this year, the passenger volume of China Railway totaled 2.082 billion, up 9.1% year on year. The railway freight volume totaled 1.927 billion tons, up 6.1% year-on-year, laying a solid foundation for fulfilling the objectives set for the whole year. The passenger volume of 5 regional group companies of CHINA RAILWAY has increased by over 10% year on year, and that of China Railway Kunming Group Co., Ltd. has increased by 27.7%. The freight volume of 4 regional group companies of CHINA RAILWAY has increased by over 10% year on year, and that of China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. has increased by 22.1%.
