Published:2024-01-10

On December 27, the Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway officially commenced operation in Guangxi, connecting the Sino-Vietnamese border city of Dongxing to the national railway network.

The Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway is located within the territory of Fangchenggang City in Guangxi, starting from the existing Fangchenggangbei Railway Station on the Qinzhou-Fangchenggang High Speed Railway and extending to the newly constructed Dongxingshi Railway Station. The total length of the line is 47 kilometers, designed with a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour. The entire line includes two stations: Fangchenggangbei Railway Station and Dongxingshi Railway Station, forming a national-grade Class I double-track passenger and freight shared railway.

The Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway operates with a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour. In the initial phase of operation, the railway authority has scheduled six passenger trains daily. The travel time from Dongxingshi Railway Station to Fangchenggangbei Railway Station, Nanningdong Railway Station, and Liuzhou Railway Station is as fast as 19 minutes, 73 minutes, and 2 hours and 48 minutes, respectively. Subsequent adjustments to the train schedule will be made based on passenger demand to further optimize and improve the train operation plan.

With the commencement of operation of the Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway, the railway network structure of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone is further improved. This development is of significant importance in facilitating travel for people along the line, promoting border tourism and economic exchanges, and contributing to the vital connectivity of infrastructure along the “Belt and Road” Initiative.
