Railway Transportation for the Qingming Festival Holiday Commences

Published:2024-04-09

On April 3, the railway transportation for the 5-day Qingming Festival holiday commenced, lasting until April 7. It is expected that the national railway will transport 75 million passengers, averaging 15 million passengers per day. April 4 is expected to be the peak day with around 17.5 million passengers.

During this year's Qingming Festival holiday, there is a strong demand for travel among passengers for family visits, tomb-sweeping, outings, and tourism. Based on the ticket pre-sale data from the 12306 ticketing system, the railway transportation will mainly serve short to medium-distance travel routes. Hotspot tourist cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Wuhan, as well as popular routes like Beijing to Tianjin, Guangzhou to Shenzhen, Shanghai to Suzhou, Shanghai to Hangzhou, and Chongqing to Chengdu, are expected to have relatively concentrated passenger flows. Committed to meeting the travel needs of passengers, the railway authority tapped into transportation potential. By optimizing train operation plans and implementing convenience and benefit measures, they ensured the smooth and orderly transportation of key materials. This effort aims to provide reliable support for safe, orderly, and pleasant travel for passengers during the holiday period and the stable operation of the national economy.
