Accelerating Embrace of the Digital Economy Empowers High-Quality Development of Railways

Published:2024-04-05

This year's government work report has put forward the goal of deepening the innovative development of the digital economy. At this year's Two Sessions, the integration of railway operations with digital technology has become a hot topic of discussion among members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

"The railway's 12306 platform now not only allows the purchase of train tickets but also offers options for purchasing plane tickets, bus tickets, booking taxis, hotels, and even sending express deliveries and booking tours. One app can solve so many travel-related issues," said Zhong Zhangdui, a CPPCC member and the dean of the Date Intelligence Rail Transit Research Institute at Beijing Jiaotong University, in an interview with reporters.

In accelerating the establishment of a modern railway technology innovation system, CR has focused on strengthening top-level design and comprehensively improving the level of railway informatization. The digitization of railways empowers high-quality development, helping to ensure the smooth travel of the people. During the recent Spring Festival travel rush, facing historically high passenger volumes, the railway's 12306 ticketing system withstood the pressure of massive concurrent access, effectively meeting the travel needs of the public.

Digitization can effectively drive the intelligent upgrading of production and service systems, offering vast application scenarios in the railway industry. In the freight transport sector, the railway's 95306 platform not only handles freight business throughout the day but also achieves logistics information sharing across transportation modes and national borders, winning the favor of customers. This platform effectively promotes the improvement of railway freight quality and capacity, contributing positively to the reduction of logistics costs across society.
