CHINA RAILWAY Plans to Transport 2.69 Billion Passengers in 2023, Rising by 67.6% YoY

       On January 3, the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (“CHINA RAILWAY”) convened in Beijing for a working teleconference. Liu Zhenfang, Chairman and Party Secretary of CHINA RAILWAY made a report at the meeting entitled “Work Hard and Go Ahead Steadfastly to Promote High-quality Railway Development While Serving and Supporting Modernization in China”.

     In 2022, CHINA RAILWAY transported 1.61 billion passengers and 3.9 billion tons of goods, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%. Its cargo transports included 1.49 billion tons of thermal coal, a year-on-year increase of 13%. CHINA RAILWAY also completed a fixed asset investment worth 710.9 billion CNY, put into operation 4,100 km of new lines, 2,082 km of which are high speed railways. Furthermore, in 2022, CHINA RAILWAY made a total revenue of 693.6 billion CNY, of which 478.6 billion CNY of its revenue was made from cargo transport, an increase of 9.8% year-on-year.

  CHINA RAILWAY plans to transport 2.69 billion passengers in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 67.6%; it also plans to transport 3.97 billion tons of goods, up by 1.8% year-on-year. CHINA RAILWAY will fully complete its planned investments for 2023, facilitate the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and other key projects in a high-quality manner, and put into operation more than 3,000 km of new lines, including 2,500 km high speed railways, earning a total revenue of 817.5 billion CNY, with a year-on-year increase of 123.9 billion CNY or 17.9% growth, returning to background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">
