Inner Mongolia, which produces one-fourth of the coal in China, is now mobilizing more trains to ensure the transport of coal. In Inner Mongolia, there is a company that makes natural gas out of coal, which is a key enterprise supplying energy to Beijing. During the New Year holiday, the company was in a state of full operation, consuming 30% more coal per day than it did before the New Year. Railway regional groups established the “green channel” of energy supply, which ensures that coal can be transported to the natural gas-making company within one day after they are mined.

　　Xilinhot, where the lowest temperature reaches minus 20 degrees centigrade, is an important coal supplier for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region as well as northeastern China. Railway regional groups have taken extensive preventative measures to stop coal from freezing because of this intensely cold weather.

　　During the New Year holiday, the China Railway Nanchang Group Co., Ltd. transported much more fertilizer than usual; Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu, etc. had more demands for dairy products; Shandong Section on Beijing-Kowloon Railway, which is one of the busiest freight trunks connecting Northern China to Southern China, transported nearly 30% more goods than usual. Railway regional groups have consistently improved the efficiency of train turnover to ensure that all of life’s necessities are transported.
