This year's government work report proposes to deeply implement the concept that green mountains and clear waters are invaluable assets. Measures include promoting carbon reduction, pollution reduction, afforestation, and economic growth in coordination, to build a beautiful China where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.
Inner Mongolia is one of the provinces with China's most concentrated and severe desertification and desertified land. The Linhe-Ejina section of the Linhe-Hami Railway, located in the western part of Inner Mongolia, stretches for 759.1 kilometers, with more than 400 kilometers passing through deserts and Gobi areas, serving as a major artery for material transportation in northern China. Since the opening of this line more than ten years ago, railway sand control personnel have planted 280,000 shrubs and artificially afforested 151 hectares. The length of railway sections affected by desertification has been reduced from 108 kilometers in the early days of operation to 4.5 kilometers, effectively curbing the deterioration of desertification and improving the ecological environment along the railway.
As President Xi Jinping said, "If we do not fail Nature, Nature shall never fail us." Nowadays, traveling on the Linhe-Ceke section of the Linhe-Hami Railway, one can see greenery along the route.
Green is the foundation of high-quality development, and new quality productive forces are green productivity. "It is necessary to make the development of new quality productive forces a key focus and solidly promote high-quality development, to make contributions to China's modernization," said Zhuang He, an NPC deputy and Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CR-Huhhot, adding that they will deeply study and implement the guiding principles from the National Two Sessions, better fulfilling railway functions, according to plans and coordination of the Party Group of CR and the Party Committee and Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regions.
