Origin of the “Village Basketball Association” Launches the First Returning Work Special Train of the Year

Guiyang, February 18 (Reported by Hu Zhiqiang, Wang Shuai, and Xu Yi) - On February 15, the sixth day of the lunar new year, the birthplace of the “village basketball association,” Rongjiang, launched the first returning work special train of the year. At 11:23 a.m., Train D1857, carrying migrant workers, slowly departed from Rongjiang Railway Station, helping passengers embark on their journey southward to return to work, commencing the new year’s endeavors.

This special work train, customized for laborers returning to work and operated by the Qiandongnan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, aims to assist these rural laborers by offering free high-speed rail rides. Passengers on this train mainly come from various counties in the Prefecture, such as Rongjiang, Congjiang, Jinping, and Tianzhu, with destinations including Sanshuinan Railway Station, Foshanxi Railway Station, and Guangzhounan Railway Station. Additionally, local governments and railway authorities have distributed special Chinese New Year gift packages to travelers, ensuring their journey is comfortable and worry-free.

To ensure the smooth operation of the work train, the Guiyang Railway Station of CR-Chengdu attaches great importance. Before the Spring Festival, they organized promotional activities at various high-speed railway stations along the route, strengthened coordination with local labor departments to understand post-holiday return-to-work demands, and formulated targeted service plans accordingly. Furthermore, they actively coordinated with higher-level authorities to enhance operational capacity assurance through measures such as adding extra trains and increasing train lengths to facilitate employment for migrant workers. Moreover, stations such as Rongjiang Railway Station and Congjiang Railway Station coordinated with local governments in advance to develop organized plans, opened green channels for rapid entry and boarding for workers, and stationed party members at elevators and platforms to provide guidance and assistance throughout the entire travel process. They also set up special assistance channels to aid passengers with children or those with mobility difficulties, ensuring the safe and smooth passage of migrant workers.

In terms of onboard safety and service guarantee, the Guizhou Passenger Transport Depot arranged for experienced party member train conductors to serve on the train, assisting with seat allocation, luggage placement, and care for special passengers. The crew carefully prepared safety instructions for passengers and provided amenities such as mobile phone charging cables. Additionally, the train is equipped with a medical kit containing over 20 common medicines to meet passengers’ travel needs. Furthermore, various meal box options priced at 15 yuan, 32 yuan, and more are available onboard, which can be ordered by scanning QR codes and delivered to the seats by staff, ensuring that the journey for migrant workers is more convenient and pleasant.

On the same day, Tongzidong Railway Station and Duyundong Railway Station in the Guizhou region also successively operated special work trains, assisting over 1,200 migrant workers from Guizhou in returning to work in the south. As of now, the railway authorities in Guizhou have confirmed the operation of 21 returning work special trains, expected to serve more than 15,000 migrant workers.
