Trade Achievements along the China-Laos Railway Showcased at CIIE

On November 5, the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened in Shanghai. Within the Lin-gang Exhibition Area set up in Hall 3H of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the Mohan-Boten and the China-Laos Railway Exhibition Area concentrated on showcasing the achievements of trade development along the China-Laos Railway, attracting a large number of spectators.

The China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone is located at a key node of the China-Laos Railway and serves as an essential transportation hub for China and countries participating in the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI), including ASEAN countries. Boten, meaning “a prosperous place” in the Dai language, is one of the convenient land routes and golden ports connecting China to Southeast Asia. On October 8, the inaugural “Shanghai-Yunnan-Vientiane” international freight train service began operating in both directions, opening a new economic and trade channel connecting the Yangtze River Delta to Yunnan and South Asian and Southeast Asian countries.

After the launch of the “Shanghai-Yunnan-Vientiane” international freight train, the coverage of the China-Laos Railway has expanded to the East China region, effectively promoting the complementary advantages of Shanghai and Kunming, providing a fast logistics channel for exchanges and interactions between the eastern and western regions.
