Building a New Open Pattern through Internal Connectivity and External Integration

Published:2024-03-01

At 12:10 AM on February 10, amid the tranquility of the Lunar New Year’s Eve, the first New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor train of this year departed from Yuzui Railway Station in Guoyuan Port, Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, breaking the silence. According to data from the Logistics and Operations Organization Center of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridors, Chongqing operated a total of 53 rail-sea intermodal, China-Laos, and China-Vietnam trains on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridors during the Spring Festival holiday, reaching a new high compared to previous years.

The joint construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI) has evolved from a grand plan to meticulous implementation, with the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor being one of its prominent features. This new channel, centered around Chongqing and linking key nodes in various western provinces, regions, and cities, utilizes railways, sea transportation, and highways to connect to coastal and border ports in Guangxi, Yunnan, and other regions, reaching destinations worldwide.

Today, the role of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the joint construction of the BRI has become increasingly important. Over the past six years, it has connected with 120 countries and regions worldwide, driving the open development of the western regions internally and creating new development opportunities for participating countries externally. It serves to build a new development pattern where the domestic circulation plays a dominant role and the domestic and international circulations reinforce each other.
