As of June 7, 3,010 meter-gauge CRE trains have been operated between Kaiyuan, China and Hai Phong of Vietnam, realizing nearly 1.2 million tons of cross-border freight transport, which have accelerated the interconnection between China and South and Southeast Asian countries, and effectively promoted the development of import and export trade of China.
Relying on the advantages of the century-old Yunnan-Vietnam meter-gauge railway, the meter-gauge CRE trains have established a transnational freight brand. In December 2017, with joint efforts of railway sectors, customs authorities and enterprises of China and Vietnam, the operation of international freight CRE trains was launched.
