CHINA RAILWAY Express Train (Hamburg-Wuhan) for Ivory Board Launched

At 23:35 on June 29, a 42-car CRE train loaded with 830 tons of ivory boards successfully arrived at Wujiashan Station in Hanxi Station Depot of China Railway Wuhan Group Co., Ltd. This is the first CRE train carrying ivory boards from Hamburg to Wuhan.

Originating from Hamburg, Germany on June 13, the CRE train has traveled over 10,000 km via Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan before it arrived at its destination of Wuhan, China, taking about 17 days in total. The ivory boards carried by the CRE train can meet the production demands of enterprises in Hubei province.

To promote the unloading efficiency, Wujiashan Station has set up a green channel for this train, organizing operation, shunting and freight staff to prepare for train receiving in advance. Upon its arrival, Wujiashan station has quickly moved this train to the corresponding track for unloading and transfer.

According to the strategy director of IFB International Freightbridge Ltd., the company used to transport international cargoes by sea in the past. However, due to COVID-19 outbreak, sea transport is severely affected in terms of shipping space reduction, freight charge increase and transport corridor blockage, and the company now chooses the CRE train which is safer and faster. Under the support of China Railway Wuhan Group Co., Ltd., the company has cooperated with Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics to operate this CRE train.
