New Model of Fuxing High Speed Comprehensive Inspection Train Launched
Setting a World Record for Open and In-tunnel Track Meeting Speed of High Speed EMU Trains

Recently, a new model of world-leading Fuxing high speed comprehensive inspection train independently developed by China was put into operation, which was operated in the pilot tests for the development of CR450 EMU as a new technology verification platform. On April 12, it registered a speed of 403 km/h and a relative meeting speed of 806 km/h through the Badong-Wanzhou tunnel section of Zhengzhou-Chongqing High Speed Railway. On April 21, it reached a speed of 435 km/h and a meeting speed of 870 km/h respectively on an open-track of the Puyang-Zhengzhou section of Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, setting a world record for open and in-tunnel track meeting speed of high speed EMU trains. With this it marks the full unfolding of the CR450 Science and Technology Innovation Project listed in the National “14th Five-Year Plan”, which will provide the most important technical support and guidance for developing CR450 EMU and offering the most effective support and guarantee for the construction of a demonstration line with 350km/h safety standard.
According to the head of Department of Science, Technology and Information Technology of CHINA RAILWAY, CHINA RAILWAY has developed a new model of world-leading Fuxing high speed comprehensive inspection train based on the Intelligent EMU designed for Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR, by thoroughly implementing the innovation-driven development strategy of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, giving full play to HSR technology in the national scientific and technological innovation, and cooperating with the HSR design and manufacturing enterprises, universities and scientific research institutes. Adopting 9 independently-developed technologies such as eddy current brake, carbon-ceramic brake disc, permanent magnet traction system and active control pantograph, the EMU consists of 4 motor cars and 4 trailers to reinforce the safety, reliability, efficiency and economical running efficiency, which leads the world and fills multiple technological gaps in China.

Since April this year, the world-leading Fuxing high speed comprehensive inspection train has been operated in the pilot tests for the development of CR450 EMU on Jinan-Zhengzhou HSR and the Zhengzhou-Chongqing HSR, when more than 60 tests of dynamics, aerodynamics, resistance and noise interference were conducted under high speed operation and high speed meeting conditions on the open and in-tunnel tracks respectively. The train successfully performed for the first time a single train speed of 435 km/h and a relative speed of 870 km/h when meeting on an open track and 403 km/h and 806 km/h respectively when meeting inside a tunnel, which acquired the characteristic data of the EMU train and HSR infrastructures such as subgrade, tunnels under different working conditions with the favorable indicators, and explored the rules of relevant safety and riding comfort parameters for speed step-up.

The CR official also highlighted on the successful operation of this Fuxing high speed comprehensive inspection train undergoing its series of tests, which proved the performance of the new technological equipment, explored the boundary conditions of EMU operation at a much higher speed, and further enriched the fundamental theoretical research results and the engineering experience for China’s high speed railways. It marks a significant milestone for improving the capability and competitiveness in the railway science and technology in consolidating China's world leading position in the high speed railway field.
